The city may consider offering some sort of small business incentives at some point in the future.
The idea was floated by Vice Mayor Kyle Blades at an economic development committee meeting Monday.
“I’d like to have a quick discussion that may shut down just as quick as I bring it up — the city itself has been bit in the past,” Blades said. He then suggested the city consider the possibility of helping small businesses get into city locations such as those on Balsam Street.
“I do not know what that looks like,” Blades continued. “It would take a lot of brainstorming, a lot of thought, a lot of talks with Cherie [Freese, finance director] and Ron [Strand, city manager] and the council but I wanted to at least pitch the question onto the table.”
